You certainly have to be careful when selecting products for use on and in the body, especially if allergies are a problem. Your husband's dentist may be able to recommend a suitable product which avoids this awful allergic reaction. Good luck!

(Pack of 6) (Health and Beauty) Interesting that Amazon would simply make a new page for a purodct when several people complain about health issues resulting from that (this!) purodct's use. See Arm & Hammer Dental Care Fluoride Toothpaste, Advance Cleaning, Maximum Strength, Fresh Mint 6.3 oz (178 g) (Pack of 6) I'll repeat my review from last year here, as the ingredients HAVE NOT CHANGED and people continue to suffer after using this toothpaste. ===== The original white box (UPC code 0332001183709 for the 6.3oz tube) worked wonders for a fresh mouth/breath and clean teeth for my husband who has many allergies. The white box Dental Care was his favorite, as he could use it without effect. Then, as all marketers seem to do, Arm & Hammer changed their formula for a new and improved fresh mint flavored (in the gold box) toothpaste. My husband cannot use the new formula, as it makes his tongue swell up and gives his entire (inner and outer) mouth area a severe burning' reaction which leaves him looking (literally) like a clown with a huge red area encircling his mouth and the three inches surrounding his mouth for four to five days after use. Old formula: sodium flouride, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), water, glycerin, sodium saccharin, PEG-8, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, flavor, cellulose gum, sodium lauryl sulfate New formula: sodium flouride, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), PEG-8, PEG/PPG-116/66 copolymer, sodium carbonate peroxide, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, silica, sodium saccharin, flavor, water, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate What's new? [a] PEG/PPG-116/66 copolymer (not used in ANY other toothpaste, per the Cosmetics Database), [b] sodium carbonate peroxide (used in OxiClean and deck cleaner not used in ANY other toothpaste, per the Household Products lists within the National Library of Medicince at the National Institute of Health , used in Crest Night Effects whitening system per the Cosmetics Database), [c] tetra sodium pyrophosphate (tartar control), [d] silica (sand) I find these new ingredients make me anxious about using the purodct. I can only hope Arm & Hammer will follow CocaCola's path (and drop the new' purodct and go back to the old original'). If not, Arm & Hammer has lost my faith and business (our entire household uses the detergent, toothpaste, etc that hubby/dad/grandpa can tolerate.)

Hi! Thanks for your comments. Dental care can seem expensive, especially when money is tight, however research has linked gum disease with so many other potentially fatal problems in the body, that looking after your teeth could be a small price to pay for your long-term health. Here at the clinic we sadly meet people who through fear, lack of cash, or simply being a bit disorganised, missed out on years of dental care. Many of these people now face expensive, complicated treatments to try and return their teeth and gums to health.

Prevention is always better than cure. Once you find a dentist you trust ask them to recommend a care-schedule that works within your budget and try to stick to that.

Good luck with your future health of your teeth!

I have to warn you to be very careful when using non-dental products in your mouth and on your teeth and gums. Whilst recent research thoroughly supports your advice to avoid home-whitening kits, I have never come across any research which claimed hand-soap could whiten teeth. If you want to brighten your teeth you could switch to a whitening tooth paste and avoid food and drink with strong colours (coca cola, coffee, tea, red wine, curry etc.), this will all help to make your teeth appear fresher and brighter.

Whatever you do, dont buy one of those over the counter kits they ruin your teeth! Its prob best to get it done at the dsintet, expensive, but prob the best. You could also try soap . yeah i know it sounds horrible but it works. I brush mine once a week with soap and it really does make a difference ( i use dove soap)Just do the front teeth, that way you don't get the yucky taste of soap in your mouth. Then brush them with toothpaste to finnish off.Oh and you could also use barcarbonate of soda to! x

I don't have a dental rniusance too. It's very expensive but we have no choice but to take good care of our teeth. WE really have to spend some bucks. When I was still a student. I always make sure that I go to my dentist for regular clean-ups and fillings, if needed. What my dentist used to do is to make me pay for her services on a staggered basis since I am still a student. Not too many dentist would understand that most Pinoys can't afford the dental fees especially if it's only a one time payment. My dentist understood my situation being just a student. I didn't bother to ask my parents about the dental fees because that's definitely not their priority. I make sure that I get to save up enough dime from my daily allowance to be able to pay my dentist. Sorry for the litany, LOL!Thanks Jess for the frequent visits and comments at my blogs. I sincerely appreciate it. See you around!
