Organised by the British Dental Health Foundation, National Smile Month is a charity campaign that is dedicated to improving oral health and promoting the importance of a healthy smile.
Running from 16 May–16 June 2016, this year National Smile Month is celebrating its 40th birthday!
The aim of National Smile Month is to promote three key messages to encourage people to develop and maintain a healthy mouth:
- Brush your teeth at least twice a day with a toothpaste containing at least 1450ppm fluoride, which helps protect teeth from cavities and makes teeth stronger
- Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks; it is best to keep these to meal times only
- Maintain regular check-ups with your dentist and hygienist, who will schedule your appointments to ensure your teeth and gums remain healthy.
If you want more advice about looking after your teeth or have any dental concerns, the experienced team at Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic in Farnham, Surrey, can help you regain confidence in your teeth and smile:
