Dental implants: a long-term solution to missing teeth

Dental implants are often the perfect solution for patients with missing teeth. At Farnhamdental practice Elmsleigh House, we offer implant treatment to replace one, some, or even all of your natural teeth. In some cases it is even possible to have your new teeth fitted straight away, so you needn’t worry about being left with a gap-toothed smile.

How dental implants work

With dental implants, your dentist is able to replace the root portion of one or more missing teeth. Implants are the only way to do this, and the only permanent tooth replacement solution.

Dental implants are small screws, made from titanium and placed directly in your jaw bone in a small operation. At our Farnham practice we offer a number of sedation options for nervous patients, although the majority of people only require local anaesthetic for implant placement, and often report that it is more bearable than having a tooth taken out.

Once in position, your implants integrate with your jaw bone and promote bone growth, helping to prevent bone loss – a common side-effect of losing your teeth. In some cases your new teeth are attached to your implants straight away, whilst in other cases a healing period of a few months is required to give your implants time to integrate with your bone. The best option to suit your particular needs will be discussed when you come to our Farnhamdental practice for your initial implant consultation.

Dental implants in Farnham

Whether you have lost a single tooth, some teeth, or all of your natural teeth, your dental implants journey begins with an hour-long consultation here at our Farnham practice. During this time your dentist will perform a thorough clinical assessment as well as finding a bit about your wants and needs from treatment.

We can carry out any preparatory work here at our Farnhamdental centre. This may include removing failing teeth, work to regenerate your jaw bone if you have experienced some bone loss, or work to rebuild gum tissue.

Your dentist will provide you with a treatment plan that details the projected length of your treatment, including whether teeth will be fitted straight away or whether a healing period is necessary.
