Children’s teeth

As dental professionals we believe in preventive dental care and encourage our patients to bring their children to the practice as soon as their milk teeth start to appear. Studies have shown that the younger the age you bring your child to the dental clinic, even if just for a check-up or to accompany older siblings, the more likely they are to have a positive experience and to grow up to not be afraid of the dentist.

Regular check-ups from a young age will ensure a good oral health routine is established, will help prevent tooth decay and will identify any other problems early; the sooner any problems are found, the quicker they can be resolved.

Our team of dentists, hygienists and dental nurses are welcoming and friendly, and you can be assured that your child will be looked after in a calm, unrushed environment while maintaining the highest standard of patient care, no matter the age of the patient.

We are proud to offer you and your child consistent care with one of our family dentists, who you will see each time you visit. Your dentist will get to know you and your child and be able to advise on all aspects of dentistry, delivering a reassuring continuity of dental care to the highest of standards.

Our aim is to provide a preventive, long-term approach in order to keep your child’s teeth and gums in excellent condition and keep treatment to a minimum. Our hygienists can provide fissure sealants to prevent dental decay in your child, as well as offering preventive advice to ensure your child’s teeth remain healthy; for example, brushing with a fluoride toothpaste for two minutes twice a day to help prevent tooth decay.

Prevention is always better than cure, so call the Welcome team today to book your child in for a new patient appointment.

We have launched Little Smiles, A DEDICATED CLINIC FOR YOUNG PATIENTS

If you have an anxious child or a child requiring treatment such as fillings or teeth extractions who need a little more help under inhalation sedation, you can book them in to see Sarah Mack at Little Smiles or ask your dentist to refer them to us for specific treatment.

Sarah will first see children and their parents/guardian for a consultation at Little Smiles. We have designated clinic days on a Saturday to ensure school and work pressures do not disrupt our time together. This enables children to be familiar with the surroundings, to meet Sarah, and for Sarah to discuss treatment plans, procedures and potential sedation with you and your child. Where possible, she will use props to show children what she plans to do in a language they will understand, and will ensure children and their parents/guardian are well informed, alleviating concerns and building a sense of trust.

If a dentist has referred your child to Little Smiles, we will keep them informed of all treatment and will return your child to their routine care afterwards.
