Miss B came to Elmsleigh House on recommendation as she had a painful tooth and wanted improvements made to her front teeth, which were stained. She had previously been told that the painful tooth would need to be extracted in hospital due to the positioning of its roots. She initially saw Hugh Cowley for a thorough new patient examination, including x-ray pictures to determine the painful tooth root’s location.
As Hugh has years of expertise as an oral surgeon, he advised he would be able to extract the painful tooth under local anaesthesia, which went well, and recommended Miss B see Cathleen Perrin to straighten her front teeth and further improve her smile with whitening and cosmetic bonding.
Miss B saw Cathleen Perrin for a faster orthodontic consultation to discuss the option of straightening her front teeth. Miss B had had orthodontic treatment as a teenager, but her teeth had moved and her fixed retainer behind her lower teeth was no longer fitting correctly.
Cathleen removed the fixed retainer and took impressions for a series of SmileTru clear aligners to be made. Miss B was shown how to fit each aligner in place, to be worn for up to two weeks or when passive, before progressing to the next in the series. Miss B returned for reviews, adjustments and interproximal reduction, and her lower teeth moved into position in just 4 months. Her upper teeth needed a little more help, and moved into position around 4 months later. Fixed retainers were fitted behind her upper and lower teeth and removable retainers were made to wear at night to prevent relapse.
Cathleen then had whitening trays made to fit Miss B’s straightened teeth precisely. Miss B was shown how to apply the whitening gel to the trays and fit them securely in place. She took home her trays and sufficient whitening gel to wear the trays for two to fours hours each day (or overnight), until she achieved her brighter shade desired.
Cathleen perfected her smile with cosmetic bonding to smooth worn edges and improve symmetry.
Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic was actually recommended to me by another private practice when I had a particularly difficult problem that couldn’t be treated on the NHS without going to the hospital. That is how well they are thought of. I have always had problems with my teeth since a child and I have never felt so confident in my care as I do with Elmsleigh House.
I have had dealings with several of the dentists and assistants there and they have all given me the best care. I was always informed at every stage what was happening and the treatment options open to me. The practises put in place over Covid were very impressive and gave me a sense of safety.
Cathleen took over my care when I decided to have teeth straightening treatment and has been magnificent. She has always gone over and above and has the highest standards in her work. All treatments are around my convenience, and when I couldn’t take time from work she was happy to receive photos over email to check my continued progress.
