Modern dentures provide a realistic solution to tooth loss, in terms of both action and appearance. Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic in Farnham offers functional and aesthetically appealing dentures, which are designed by our Clinical Dental Technician, Frank Johnson, and fully customised to suit your individual needs.

In the bad old days of early dentistry, dentures were made from all manner of materials – animal teeth, ivory or bone, even wood. One can only imagine how they would have looked, let alone felt or functioned. Thankfully, things have improved, a lot. Modern dentures are now made from such materials as porcelain or acrylic, and customised to fit your mouth.

There are two options for dentures at our Farnham dental clinic:

Premier dentures

With this option, Frank will carefully hand-craft your new teeth so that they look just like the real thing. By using a combination of special measurements, old photographs, and the latest digital imaging technology, he will create teeth so realistic that few people will realise you are wearing dentures.

Essential dentures

This denture comprises hard plastic teeth set in an acrylic base. Frank makes every tooth out of three layers of resin, resulting in a highly natural appearance. Your new teeth will be resistant to both stains and breakage.

Denture stabilisation

At our Farnham dental centre we find that the best long-term solution to losing several or all of your natural teeth is to stabilise your denture with dental implants.

Implants are small titanium screws that are placed directly in your jaw bone during minor oral surgery. The majority of patients at our Farnham practice require only local anaesthetic for this procedure, thanks to the detailed planning that goes on beforehand.

A series of implants (between four and eight, in most cases) are placed and left to integrate with the bone for a few months, during which time you can usually continue to wear your old denture after having it adjusted.

Once healing and integration is complete, you will be called back to our Farnham clinic to have your new denture attached. It will be as secure in action and natural in appearance.
