This year National Smile Month runs from 15th May–15th June 2023 and its key message is to Brush for Better Health. Run by the Oral Health Foundation, the aim is to promote the benefit of good oral health and the value of a healthy smile.
In the UK, around one in three people do not brush twice a day, while one in four regularly skip brushing! These poor toothbrushing habits are a key factor for two in three adults in the UK having visible plaque, nearly one in three suffering from signs of tooth decay and three in four having had teeth extracted!
During National Smile Month the emphasis this year is to get more people brushing their teeth twice daily and to brush more effectively. A person's oral health is a crucial part of their overall wellbeing, so it is important to look after your teeth and mouth, as well as supporting others who need assistance, such as young children and the elderly.
Throughout National Smile Month we will share our tips as well as information from the Oral Health Foundation.
