Invisalign, implants and a new smile!

. Miss K was referred to Kit Spears for implants, as both her upper lateral incisors had always been missing. These had been replaced with a removable denture, which she was very private about and no one knew she had any teeth missing.

At her dental implant consultation, Kit outlined her options, including dentures, bridges and implants. On examination, the spaces where her teeth were missing were very narrow - too narrow for replacement teeth to look their best. Also, her x-ray pictures showed that the spaces were too narrow for implants as the roots of the adjacent teeth were too close together. After a discussion of her options, Kit determined that to proceed with implants Miss K would first need orthodontic treatment to make the spaces bigger to enable implant placement.

Kit used Digital Smile Design to plan Miss K’s treatment. Using this software, Kit could plan the ideal proportions and positioning of her teeth. He could predict exactly how Miss K’s teeth would look following straightening and implant treatment.

This information was also shared with Kostas Spathoulas, the Specialist in orthodontics at Elmsleigh House, who could plan Invisalign treatment using a series of clear, removable aligners to move the teeth exactly into the required position. Each aligner was worn for up to 2 weeks before progressing to the next in the series, and after 12 months Miss K’s teeth were in position, with sufficient gaps for implant placement. A fixed retainer was fitted to hold the teeth into position.

After placing two dental implants, Kit fitted a removable partial denture with two teeth attached, so Miss K didn’t have any gaps during healing.

To whiten Miss K’s natural teeth, bespoke mouth trays were made to fit her teeth precisely, and she was given sufficient teeth whitening gel to apply to the trays and wear for 4 hours each day, or overnight, until her whiter, brighter shade had been achieved (photograph shows colour match).

Kit then fitted two cosmetic implant crowns that were made to match the whiter colour, shape and lustre of Miss K’s other teeth. As she was delighted with how they looked, they were securely attached in place.

Miss K’s teeth were transformed in 22 months, and her smile says it all!

“It was an absolute pleasure to receive my dental treatments at Elmsleigh House Clinic. The receptionists were so lovely and friendly before and after my appointments and always willing to help.

I was really nervous about getting my implants done because it seemed like a scary procedure. However, over the 2 years Kit had been exceptional in making me feel comfortable, heard, and really took into account my opinions in regards to the crown colouring/shape.

The after care after having the implant treatment was also great, Kit was happy to answer all my questions very willingly and was always informative. Kostas was brilliant too!” Miss K.
