She saw Cathleen Perrin, who discussed her options and suggested that her teeth could be straightened with anterior alignment orthodontics (faster teeth straightening for adults) and brightened with whitening.
After a consultation and thorough assessment for anterior alignment orthodontics, Cathleen determined that Cfast® cosmetic braces could be used to straighten Mrs C’s front teeth, as her back teeth were acceptable.
Cathleen fitted Cfast® clear orthodontic brackets onto Mrs C’s top and bottom teeth, which were connected with a nickel-titanium wire. This exerts gentle pressure to move the front teeth into position, usually in around 6–9 months.
Cathleen determined that teeth whitening would further enhance their appearance, and whitening trays were made to fit Mrs C’s newly straightened teeth. She was shown how to apply whitening gel to the trays and fit them in place, and took them home to apply the gel and wear for 2–4 hours a day (or overnight) until she achieved the brighter shade desired, in around 2–3 weeks.
Mrs C saw Hugh Cowley to have two wisdom teeth removed, and returned to see Cathleen, who contoured the worn edges of her teeth with cosmetic bonding to improve the symmetry of her smile.
Mrs C has fixed and clear removable retainers to keep her teeth in their newly aligned positions and has designated whitening trays to top up the whitening when she wants to brighten her shade.
This is an example of following an ABC treatment plan:
• Align the teeth first
• Brighten them if desired
• Contour them for symmetry if needed.
So Mrs C’s smile was achieved in as simple as ABC, and she is delighted!
