The dental implant team at Elmsleigh House – Hugh Cowley and Kit Spears – previously lead by Tim Thackrah, have completed specific and enhanced training in dental implants and have extensive experience placing and restoring implants; we use high-quality implant systems and consistently provide excellent long-term results.
Hugh Cowley has over 20 years’ experience in oral surgery, general and cosmetic dentistry. He has special interests in dental implants, oral sugery, gas & air/inhalation and intravenous sedation.
Hugh has a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons and has placed over a thousand dental implants at Elmsleigh House.
Hugh is Dental Phobia Certified - click here to verify. As we are unable to certify the clinic as a whole, we chose Hugh to be certified because of his sedation qualifications and knowledge.

Kit Spears has a Master's degree in Dental Implantology and has attended numerous advanced implant courses, including an advanced surgical fellowship with Professor Urban.
Kit has lectured in the field of implantology and is an Association of Dental Implantology-registered implant mentor. He is a member of the International Team for Implantology and the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Kit was awarded Best Young Implant Dentist in the UK 2023 Clinical Dentistry Awards and Best Multiple Implant Treatment in the UK 2023 Dentistry Clinical Case Awards.
Kit welcomes referrals for dental implants; he also has experience dealing with nervous patients, and can work with Sedation Solutions if needed.
We offer all aspects of dental implant treatment: replacing one, several or all patients' teeth; immediate teeth; implant-stabilised dentures; extractions and complex oral surgery; bone and gum grafting; guided bone regeneration; sinus lift; cosmetic restorations if needed; or return to dentist's care for prosthetic work.
All our dentures are designed, made and fitted by Professor Bill Sharpling, who brings his extensive expertise in implant-stabilised and removable dentures to Elmsleigh House.

Kostas Spathoulas is our award-winning Specialist in orthodontics, with expertise in Invisalign clear aligners, Spark and Angel aligners to straighten teeth and correct the bite, even in complex cases. He also treats the effects of myofunctional disorders in children.
Kostas won the prestigious award for “Most Transformed Smile” at the 2023 Align Summit Awards, to go alongside his award for “Most Inspirational Adult Case” awarded in 2022; he is the only orthodontist to have won awards over consecutive years.

Somayeh Modarres-Simmons is our Specialist in endodontics at Elmsleigh House.
Our endodontic service combines Somayeh's experience with the latest technology to ensure predictable outcomes for your patients.
As well as simple cases, Somayeh can also help with complex cases, retreatments, removal of fractured instrument and trauma cases, as well as offering sedation to enable your nervous patients to access the treatment they need.
Manoj Tank is our Specialist in periodontics at Elmsleigh House. He qualified as a dental surgeon and completed further training to become a Specialist in periodontics, focussing on all aspects of periodontal and peri-implant treatments.
Manoj has expertise in high-quality non-surgical periodontal treatment, minimally invasive regenerative therapies and recession corrective plastic surgery, and is experienced in placing dental implants for his periodontal patients. Manoj is also trained in Er:YAG and Nd:YAG laser therapy as well as piezo-electric surgery and air polishing treatments.
