How Invisalign works at Elmsleigh House
-
Orthodontic consultation and 3D scan
Our award-winning Specialist orthodontist, Kostas Spathoulas, conducts a detailed consultation using iTero 3D scanning to plan your Invisalign treatment from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired result. You can see your virtual results before you even begin, so you will know how your teeth are expected to look when treatment is complete.

-
Custom treatment plan
Your bespoke set of Invisalign trays is manufactured using ClinCheck® technology from a lightweight, strong, thermoplastic material.
-
Progressive aligner wear
Each aligner is worn for 20–22 hours daily over one to two weeks, gradually guiding your teeth to their desired position. You remove your aligners to eat, drink anything other than water (and especially for hot drinks) and to brush your teeth, and fit them in place afterwards.
-
Regular reviews and refinements
Routine check-ups monitor progress. Attachments and elastics may be used as needed to achieve precise results.
-
Retention phase
After treatment, fixed and removable retainers help maintain your new smile.
It may be that you have black triangles where the teeth are touching or the teeth are too close together and there is not enough space to allow for orthodontic movement. Interproximal reduction is a painless and gentle procedure using a file, disc or bur to reshape the enamel, creating space for the teeth to be moved into, as per your bespoke orthodontic treatment plan.
During your treatment you should keep up your regular dental check-ups with your usual dentist. We will show you how to keep your braces or aligners clean, and review how to clean your teeth. We recommend at least one professional clean with our hygienist during your treatment, as oral hygiene must be kept to a very high standard; poor oral hygiene will delay treatment and compromise the health of your teeth. Our hygienist will show how best to keep your mouth healthy during your orthodontic treatment.
