Facial aesthetics at Elmsleigh HouseFacial aesthetics usually refers to non-surgical solutions to improve and maintain the appearance of your skin. These treatments have rejuvenating or anti-ageing properties that make subtle enhancements to your appearance and can boost your confidence.

Our general and cosmetic dentist Olivia O'Neil-Dunne offers wrinkle reduction treatments to soften fine lines and wrinkles. Our dental therapist Katrina Reid offers a range of facial aesthetic treatments, such as hyaluronic acid dermal fillers and skin boosters, polynucleotides and microneedling.

Both offer a complimentary consultation to listen to your concerns and determine a bespoke treatment plan for you. You will receive the highest standard of care and treatment performed with care and expertise.

Wrinkle reduction

If you want to reduce the lines on your face without having to resort to surgical procedures, the good news is that facial rejuvenation techniques can soften wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.

We will offer products such as Azzalure®, a local muscle relaxant adapted from botulinum toxin type A, which will be injected via a fine needle into the skin; this relaxes tiny facial muscles in the area, leaving the skin looking smoother.

Areas on the face that can be treated include frown lines (vertical lines that form between the eyebrows), crows’ feet, popply ('dimply') chin, forehead lines and lines around the mouth and top lip.

The botulinum injection is quick, and because a very fine needle is used you are unlikely to experience any pain; however, you will be offered a topical local anaesthetic if you are concerned about the treatment.

Results will usually be seen in a few days, sometimes taking between four to seven days for the effects to be seen. The effects can last for three to four months, depending on your individual response to this treatment. You can book a series of treatments to achieve optimum and maintained results.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are injected to fill and plump-up lines, wrinkles and grooves to make the skin look more youthful. Fillers usually consist of sterile hyaluronic acid gels made from non-animal sources. As we age the skin’s natural hyaluronic acid is lost, giving rise to the appearance of lines, wrinkles and folds. Injecting fillers into the skin acts to replace the hyaluronic acid that is lost with age, and restores volume and structure to your face.

During your treatment, our facial practitioner will inject the filler through a fine needle or a cannula into your skin. She will apply a topical local anaesthetic cream before the procedure to ensure you are as comfortable as possible during your treatment.

The effect of the treatment is visible immediately. Depending on the area treated, skin type and the injection technique, the filler effect can last between six and twelve months; to maintain the results in your lips, a re-treatment is usually recommended within six months.

Scheduling a series of follow-up treatments will help you to achieve optimal and lasting results.

Hyaluronic acid skin boosters

These products, such as Profhilo®, Lumi Pro and Revs Pro, consist of a high concentration of hyaluronic acid. They work by stimulating skin collagen and elastin production as well as promoting increased skin hydration.

Administered in small amounts by intradermal injection using very fine needles, these products aim to boost, tighten, hydrate and lift your skin.

Hyaluronic acid skin boosters are used to treat tired, aged, lax and dehydrated skin as well as for fine lines and wrinkles. They are commonly used for skin rejuvenation on the face, but can also be used on the neck and hands. They are not the treatment of choice for deep lines and scars or to add volume, they are not a dermal filler and will not produce the same results as these. They improve skin tone, texture, hydration and overall radiance. They can help to increase firmness and elasticity and promote healthier and softer-looking skin.

The product is injected on three treatment sessions four weeks apart; to maintain results a further treatment session is recommended every six months. After the initial treatment you can expect to see results gradually over a period of four to six weeks. Results should last six months on average, but they can last for longer or shorter time periods. Results vary between clients and results are dependent on many individual factors.

General skin boosters

Products such as Derma 2.0 and Lemon Bottle Skin Booster contain a mix of hyaluronic acid, 11 amino acids, multiple peptides, vitamins and antioxidants, designed to support skin cell function, enhance collagen and elastin production, and improve overall skin health and appearance.

The products are intended to improve skin hydration, elasticity, smoothness and overall appearance, contributing to healthier and more youthful-looking skin.

Lemon Bottle Skin Booster is injected superficially under the skin across the whole face and can be delivered via microneedling. Derma 2.0 is injected superficially under the skin across the whole face, neck, décolleté and hands. It can also be used under the eye and up to the lash line to improve dark circles and fine lines and wrinkles in this area. The entire procedure is normally completed within 30–60 minutes depending on the required treatment and the anatomical site. More than one treatment will likely be required to achieve or maintain results, but this depends on the treatment aim and client response to treatment.

Results can be seen as soon as the next day after treatment, but peak results are usually seen at four to six weeks. The duration of results varies between clients and there is no guarantee that you will achieve desired results.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides such as Illuma Luna and Lumi-Pro Eyes are tissue stimulators designed for needle mesotherapy treatments around the eyes and the tear valley with a filling effect, but with no side effects in the form of lymphoedema. They can repair damage to the dermis with a strong tissue regenerating effect.

Polynucleotides repair damage to the dermis with tissue regenerating material. They help lighten dark circles under the eyes, moisturise and fight fine wrinkles, as well as smoothing and lifting the skin under the eyes. As a tissue booster, they have a proven rejuvenating effect. Stimulation of the skin cells, collagen and elastin allows to delay the ageing processes and strengthens the skin. They improve the firmness, density and quality of the skin in an extremely natural way. Polynucleotides stimulate the skin to self-regenerate.

The product is injected superficially under the skin under the eyes. The entire procedure is normally completed within 15–30 minutes. Results can be seen just after one treatment, but peak results are usually seen at four to six weeks. For better results, it is recommended to perform a series of three treatments with an interval of four weeks, and maintenance treatments at six to nine months. The duration of results varies between clients and there is no guarantee that you will achieve desired results.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a skin treatment used to rejuvenate the skin and improve the skins surface. It can be used to improve the appearance of fine lines, expression lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores and acne scars, hyperpigmentation and stretch marks.

Prior to the procedure, the skin is cleansed and a hyaluronic acid-based serum is applied. Microneedling can be used in conjunction with general skin boosters and polynucleotides. As the microneedling device moves across the skin, it makes multiple small needle punctures in the skin’s outer epidermis layer, creating very minor micro injuries. In response to the perceived injury, new collagen synthesis is triggered and the micro holes created allow passage of healing serums.

The microneedling device has the option of featuring a pain-free micro-current to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Concurrently red and blue LED light therapy is used to address various skin issues: blue light for removal of bacteria, reducing oil production and improving acne flair ups; red light for improving skin appearance by reducing wrinkles, stretch marks and scars, and improving sun-damaged skin.

The entire procedure is normally completed within 30–60 minutes depending on the required treatment and the anatomical site. More than one treatment will likely be required to achieve or maintain results, but this depends on the treatment aim and client response to treatment.

Results can be seen at two to three weeks after treatment, but peak results are usually seen at four to six weeks. Results vary between clients and results are dependent on many individual factors.
