White fillings and bonding improve function and appearance

October 22, 2020

Mrs M came to see Sarah Mack at Elmsleigh House as she had some sensitivity in her lower left teeth when eating sweet treats and didn't like the appearance of her front teeth, as well as her old silver (amalgam) fillings.

High-quality tooth-coloured composite fillings would improve the look as well ease sensitivity. She found a small fracture in the enamel of her upper front tooth, which could also be repaired with composite bonding. The look of her upper right canine and all of her teeth could be improved by removing residual staining in a hygiene appointment using Airflow technology, which would improve overall aesthetics and gum health. Additional composite bonding to her front teeth would straighten and improve aesthetics.

The surgery also had a medical grade air filtration unit working to remove bacteria and viruses and purify the air. In between patients, HOCl liquid was used to disinfect using a fogging device, which kills all particles of viruses and bacteria from the air.

Sarah removed the old amalgam fillings from Mrs M's lower molars, cleaned and restored with composite (white filling material), which looks natural and is longlasting. Sarah also repaired the fractured incisor with composite to strengthen the tooth.

Mrs M is delighted with the look of her repaired teeth, and hopes to eventually have all her old amalgam fillings replaced.
