Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic

The importance of a good first impression

Whether meeting a new work colleague or someone for the first time, you may realise how much first impressions count. We collect visual information almost subconsciously, and it can permanently influence our opinion of another person, especially in situations such as job interviews and dating. If people dont smile, we can easily assume that they are miserable or unfriendly, whereas they may, in fact, be ashamed of their misaligned teeth.

As adults, many of us dont want to spend months and months enduring teeth straightening treatments, especially when we only have mild misalignments on the teeth that are most visible at the front of our mouths. That is why we offer fast treatments with braces in Farnham at Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic.

If you are interested in getting your most visible teeth straightened as quickly as possible with braces in Farnham, then come in and have a consultation with Cathleen Perrin. Cathleen has been practising dentistry since 1989 and has a specialist interest in anterior alignment orthodontics (faster, discreet braces). She may suggest you try CFast or the Inman Aligner. Lets take a look at them:

Cfast braces

Clear brackets fixed onto your teeth and strung with nickel-titanium wire to exert gentle pressure, which take between 4 and 6 months to treat most cases. It should not affect your speech or eating. After your treatment, you will need to wear a fixed retainer behind your teeth to keep them in their new position.

Inman Aligner

Two clear plastic bars over your front teeth use gentle pressure created by two nickel titanium coil springs to align crowded or protruding front teeth in 6 to 16 weeks. This removable aligner makes eating and brushing teeth easy, and should be worn for 20 hours a day. Once your teeth have been straightened, a fixed retainer is fitted behind the teeth to hold them firmly in place.

To find out more about our faster braces in Farnham, please book your FREE consultation with Cathleen to see if these faster systems would be suitable for you. Were here to get you smiling with confidence again.

Restore your smile

If you have one or more missing teeth, you may have experienced moments when you are too self-conscious to smile freely or have felt embarrassed about speaking. When you feel like that, it does not take long before social and professional interactions start to suffer. Missing teeth can also have an impact on what you eat and this then has an impact on your overall health. Fortunately, you do not have to put up with gaps, and our Farnham dentures are a popular, cost-effective option.

How do dentures work?

Our experienced clinical dental technician, Frank Johnson, makes two different types of dentures in Farnham. The Premier option is created using information from old photographs, special measurements and digital imaging to make dentures that are almost indistinguishable from natural teeth. Essential dentures are made from hard plastic on a strong acrylic base and are very durable. Whichever option you choose, you can be rest assured that we will work with you to make sure that they are as comfortable as possible and that you are happy with how they function. You can choose to have implants to stabilise your dentures. These metal screws replace some of your missing teeth and can be used as a base for permanent or removeable dentures.

What are the benefits of having dentures in Farnham?

When teeth are missing, the lips and cheeks are not properly supported. This can lead to sagging and drooping and make you look older than you are. Dentures fill out your mouth again, giving you a more youthful appearance. It may take a little time to get used to using your dentures for speaking or eating. If this continues to be a problem, then stabilisation with dental implants is an option. Just as you would care for natural teeth, looking after your dentures correctly is essential. Patients who have had dentures in Farnham have found that, if they are properly cared for, they may last several years. However, as your mouth changes shape over time, they may require adjustments to ensure long-term comfort.

You do not have to put up with the inconvenience or unsightliness of missing teeth. Find out how having dentures in Farnham could restore your quality of life and give you a smile to be proud of.

Our clinical dental technician, Frank Johnson, offers a FREE denture consultation in Farnham to determine the best denture solution for you.

Is your smile an asset?

For so many people, every day starts badly because they are disappointed with what they see in the mirror. If you wish that your appearance was different, feel shy about smiling or avoid social situations, then your quality of life can suffer. Chipped, broken, missing, misaligned or discoloured teeth can contribute to you feeling unhappy with how you look. It is essential to look after your teeth for good health but, because your smile is the first thing that people notice, attractive teeth are intrinsic to how you feel. You may have seen celebrities with sparkling smiles and how their looks have been revolutionised with cosmetic dentistry. Farnham is the home of Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic where we use the same techniques to improve your appearance.

Creating a more beautiful smile

Whatever it is you would like to change about your teeth, there is a procedure to help. The first stage is to speak with us and find out which treatment or combination of approaches will best meet your needs. We offer a full range of services, which can be combined, so you can have a more attractive smile using cosmetic dentistry in Farnham. You may need initial work from a hygienist to improve the health of your teeth and gums but we can also discuss how to enhance the appearance of your smile.

Options to suit everyone

For our patients in Farnham, cosmetic dentistry has allowed them to improve their looks and boost their confidence. If your teeth are discoloured then whitening or cosmetic bonding may be useful. Inlays or onlays can disguise unattractive amalgam fillings and we use white fillings if you need treatment for cavities. If your teeth are misaligned then invisible braces could be the answer, while dental implants or crowns replace missing teeth or make them look more even. We can also carry out gum surgery if too much gum is exposed when you smile. When you choose cosmetic dentistry in Farnham, you can be rest assured that we use modern techniques that are faster, more comfortable and less obtrusive than ever before.

Investing in cosmetic dentistry in Farnham could be the start of a happier, more confident future.

Are missing teeth bringing you down?

Can you imagine being able to eat your favourite foods without having to think about it first? How would it feel to be proud of your appearance and smile when you look in the mirror? Losing your teeth leaves gaps in your smile and affects the shape of your face, as there is nothing to support your cheeks and lips from the inside. Remaining teeth may also become unstable as they can tip or drift out of position. For over 28 years at Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic, we have been seeing how people have benefitted from having dental implants in Farnham.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are small titanium screws that are inserted into the jaw during a minor surgical procedure. As the tissues heal, the blood vessels and bone mesh around the metal, holding the implants in place. When they are secure, the implants are used as a base for a single replacement tooth, a bridge of several teeth or a full set. Your new teeth are carefully made to suit the colour and tone of any remaining teeth and the shape of your mouth, so the result will be very natural. For our patients in Farnham, dental implants are a long-term investment as, if cared for correctly, they can last several decades.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

When you have dental implants in Farnham, you will benefit from a secure, permanent solution so you can enjoy a full diet, smile with confidence and speak normally again. Another major advantage is that implants stimulate the bones of the jaw in the same way as natural teeth when you bite and chew. This avoids the tissues shrinking back, which happens when you have gaps or use dentures. There is also the visible benefit of having a beautiful smile to enjoy again. Most people opt for their replacement teeth to be permanently fixed, but you can choose to have bridges that are removeable. Special connectors ensure that they are secure when they are in place, but it is a good option if your budget is restricted.

Join our hundreds of satisfied patients in Farnham. Dental implants could give you something to smile about and a healthier future.

Until the 31 August 2017, the dental implant team at Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic are offering a HALF PRICE dental implant consultation to determine the best solution for you.

Are crooked teeth ruining your smile?

People with crowded, widely spaced or misaligned teeth can get into the habit of hiding their smiles, feeling self-conscious in social situations or shying away from the camera. Very crooked teeth can even cause problems with eating or speaking. At Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic in Farnham, braces have allowed many adults and children to benefit from having straighter teeth. This contributes to an enhanced appearance, helps the jaw develop properly in children and also means that the mouth functions correctly. Straighter teeth are also easier to keep clean as there are fewer gaps in which plaque can accumulate.

Modern solutions for straighter teeth

The best time to treat misalignments is during childhood, but even if you missed out on corrective procedures earlier in life, it is not too late. There is now a diverse range of braces available, so you do not have to worry about fixed metal braces, which are often seen as uncomfortable, time-consuming, inconvenient or unsightly. Thanks to modern techniques, we can offer braces in Farnham to fit in with every lifestyle. Procedures now are faster, more comfortable and less obtrusive than ever before, so everyone can experience the joy of having straighter teeth. You can choose from fixed or removeable braces in Farnham and some of the materials used are almost invisible.

Straighten your teeth quickly and discreetly

If you have mild to moderate problems with your teeth in Farnham, braces that focus on just the front teeth could be a quick and effective option for you. Tooth-coloured wires and clear brackets mean that braces can be very discreet. Another option if you are looking for braces in Farnham is Invisalign. This process uses a series of almost invisible clear aligners that carefully guide your teeth into the desired position. The smooth plastic aligners are individually made to fit your teeth, so are very comfortable. The Inman Aligner uses special metal springs and bows that create gentle forces to move the teeth. Both aligners are removeable for eating and cleaning.

Give yourself the gift of a more attractive smile and find out how we can help you with braces in Farnham.

Replace your missing teeth with quality dentures in Farnham

Long before the invention of dental implants, dentures were used extensively for tooth replacement. Archaeological evidence suggests that the ancient Egyptians used human teeth connected by gold wire in order to create a functioning albeit primitive set of false teeth. The Etruscans and the Mayans used animal teeth instead, a practice which survived up to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Dentures, as we know them, were first created in the 19th century. However, these dentures were made of hardened rubber, whereas modern dentures are made of acrylic resin and porcelain.

Fix your smile with cosmetic dentistry in Farnham

Cosmetic dentistry does not only focus on the aesthetics of your teeth. Cosmetic dentists are equally focused on ensuring that the appearance of your teeth is matched with good dental health. At Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic in Farnham, cosmetic dentistry involves many treatments for creating the smile you desire. Our experienced dentists will help you decide what the right option is for you.

Whether you opt for teeth whitening, white fillings or cosmetic bonding, among others, our dentists will concentrate on the aesthetic outcome as well as your oral health. Once you choose the most effective treatment, or a combination of treatments, we can go ahead with cosmetic dentistry to enhance your smile.

Teeth whitening

Yellow and stained teeth are very common and often prevent people from smiling. Whether the result of old age, genetics, caffeine, red wine or medications, discoloured teeth can be brightened up with professional teeth whitening.

We offer custom-made, high quality whitening trays for patients who wish to whiten their teeth in the comfort of their own home. Once you receive your trays, you will need to apply the bleaching gel to your mouth trays and wear them every day for a few weeks. You will be advised to use the gel until you have reached a level of whiteness you are happy with. The whole process may take 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the initial state of your teeth.

White fillings

Many adults have older amalgam (silver) fillings, which can be unsightly. Replacing these fillings with the latest tooth-coloured or white materials can leave your mouth looking natural and healthy.

This is a safe procedure that entails one of our Farnham dentists removing any decay from your tooth, taking out the metal or amalgam filling and placing a tooth-coloured filling instead. This filling is made from a very hard substance and will withstand the forces in your mouth when you bite and chew over a long period of time. You will be able to smile with confidence, knowing your teeth have a completely natural appearance.

As dentists we believe prevention is always better than cure, and will encourage and help you to look after your teeth so you do not develop tooth decay in the first place. If you do have decay and need a filling, our white fillings are both an aesthetic and functional solution.

Cosmetic bonding

If you want to subtly enhance the appearance of your smile, we can use the latest tooth-coloured materials to fill small gaps between your teeth or smooth over rough or chipped edges. Your teeth could have worn edges, shallow pits or grooves, or may be slightly overlapping; cosmetic bonding and teeth reshaping can minimise these small defects by smoothing the surface of the tooth to create a uniform and straighter smile.

The colour of the material is matched to the colour of your other teeth and is bonded directly onto the tooth surface. It can be shaped or contoured to match the surrounding teeth or alter the shape, depending on your needs. In this way, prominent or overlapping teeth can be reshaped and recontoured painlessly.

We can discuss all your cosmetic options to eliminate imperfections in your teeth and enable you to smile with confidence.

If you are interested in cosmetic dentistry in Farnham, dont hesitate to schedule an appointment at Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic. Your new smile is within reach!

Immediate teeth with dental implants in Farnham

Some years ago, treating tooth loss with dental implants meant lengthy procedures, without exception. That is not the case anymore. Advances in modern dentistry and new techniques and materials now allow many patients to have their new teeth fitted within a few days of the implant surgery.

Traditionally, dental implants are completed in 2 steps. The dentist would surgically insert the implants into the jawbone and let them heal for 2 to 6 months, depending on the patient. During the healing period, patients could have temporary dentures until the permanent teeth could be inserted at the next stage of the treatment.

At Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic in Farnham, dental implants can be fitted on the same day as your replacement teeth. If you are interested in this treatment, our experienced dentists will assess the state of your teeth and jaw and determine whether you are a good candidate for this procedure. To get it right, our dentists will do as much preparation as possible before the surgery.

Why choose dental implants?

Tooth loss is a condition that affects many people of all ages and can be related to gum disease, tooth decay, dental infections or trauma. Implants are surgically embedded into the jawbone for the purpose of providing support for replacement crowns, bridges and dentures. Unlike other tooth restorations that simply sit on the gums, dental implants have the unique ability to fuse with the jawbone and encourage the growth of new bone tissue.

Dental implants look, feel and function like natural teeth, since they restore your biting and chewing ability almost entirely. Unlike bridges or dentures, dental implants provide a long-term solution to your dental problems and can last a lifetime with good oral care.

Dental implants in Farnham

At Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic, we have over 28 years experience in dental implants. We are trusted by over 500 dentists who send their patients to our practice for dental implant treatment. We only opt for same day implants if they are a viable solution for you. If you are not suitable for the procedure, we will create an alternative treatment plan to ensure your dental implants are placed securely and successfully. To determine whether you are eligible for immediate dental implants in Farnham, please contact us today.

Until 31st August 2017, our dental implant team is offering a half price dental implant consultation to determine the best solution for your missing teeth.
